While in Phoenix Roye, V & I have been sampling some of Phoenix’s cool restaurants. Tonight we ventured to Barrio Cafe, which was established in Phoenix in 2002. With a series of awards, an extensive tequila selection & recommendations from a local, it was a no brainer.
Sampling two reposado’s & an anejo, we settled into a great dinner tasting lobster taco’s, table-side guacamole with pomegranate seeds, pollo poblano & more. Good dinner, great friends, good night. We had parked in the rear lot & when we walked out, I was fronted with an artwall full of colorful Mexican murals that stretched along a concrete block wall approximately 40′ in length & around 5′ high. As it was 9pm at night, I couldn’t really photograph the entire mural – but here are three images that were in good light. Unexpected & inspiring artwork in a simple Phoenix alley behind the restaurant.
